ever wondered how a hilarious, outrageous, and slightly unhinged card game like bad advice comes to life? well, grab a drink, settle in, and let me spill the tea.
it all started in the beautiful state of washington, where i was hanging out with my equally unhinged friends erin and austin. we were talking shit, per usual, and then i just thought, you know what would make a funny game? and because i’m so incredibly smart and always right, i was, well, right.
i spent the next year aggressively typing in the notes app on my phone until i brainstormed over 100 awkward situations and 400 pieces of terrible advice, each one more cringeworthy than the last.
with my brain overflowing with bad ideas, i decided to put them to the test. i printed the cards on the cheapest postal shop priniting paper, cut them out by hand (yes, it took about 10 hours), and began forcing my guinea pigs, i mean friends, into play testing it at every game night.
and because i am so smart and always right, they naturally loved it. so i took bad advice out on the town, testing it out with strangers at parties, bars, and even a dispensary in los angeles.
i continued to tweak the cards, adding new ones, ditching the duds, and making sure every situation and advice was pure gold. at this point bad advice wasn't just a silly idea anymore; it was a full-blown party game waiting to be unleashed upon the world.
so i teamed up with the super talented designer, maison pelah, to create the 70s inspired brand you see now. i also started the hunt for the perfect manufacturer, and when the first samples arrived, i literally did a simone biles triple double flip.
that's when i decided to take the plunge and launch a kickstarter campaign. after months of prep and, if i’m honest, procrastication, i finally hit the launch button. the bad advice game raised over $8,000, with people pledging for multiple games to give as gifts (after all, bad advice is the perfect stocking stuffer, just saying).
